Little feedback
Hey guys! :)

Finally, we ended our investigations and we received good insights into the world of sport in connection with integration.
Until now every questioned person thinks, that sports can be very suitable for integration, because the love for sports counts and not the origin.
Team spirit leads to integration because mutual support and solidarity are part of it.
Jana and I share the opinion, that sports is one of the best methods to integrate people with a migration background.
Nevertheless, it's important that people also want to integrate themselfes and become part of the team.
Above all, sports is very suitable if you want to integrate refugees, as you can see in our entries and it can be a good start into their new period of life.
It also can make them feel home, because sports is independent of the country and the rules are the same, so that the refugees got something they've mastered, when even communicating doesn't work anymore.
We look forward to collect more information, insights and experiences!

yours Lea :)

Integration by boxing
Hey guys!

I would like to tell you something about my boxing team BSV-Holzhausen. I intervied my team, because many members were born in different countrys. My boxing team is a big group, which sticks together and believes in team spirit.
Our trainer helps everybody, no matter if we have problems with boxing or we need help for the daily problems of our life. He accepts everyone and is very friendly. His character is an important reason for the solidarity of our team. His name is Bajram Shala and he works as a boxing trainer since 1989. Besides, he trains two teams. One of the team is in Wallenhorst and the other one in Holzhausen.
Both boxing teams have got members with different cultural backgrounds.

I am in the team of the BSV-Holzhausen. The members come from Russia, Kosovo, Turkey, Africa, Portugal and Germany. Further, girls and boys train together.

My trainer said that mixed teams do more team work like teams with members from the same culture. It is more interesting to meet somebody, who have lived in another country. It’s no problem, if there are different cultures in one team. All members can speak german, so if there is a problem, the team discusses it and find a solution. The whole team wants to box in a peaceful atmosphere. You have to concentrate and focus on boxing. Consequently, there is no space for dispute.

In some cultures it’s forbidden that girls do sports together with boys. People from Turkey theoretically follow this rule. But the members of the team do not care about it. The girls are respected like the boys.

Therefore, I asked some girls what they think about our boxing team.
The name of one girl was Pajtesa Shala. She has been doing boxing for 4 years. She said that multiculturalism is an enrichment for the boxing team. The whole team learn something from other cultures. Besides, everyone is welcome in the team and it’s more important that everybody motivates the group and tolerante the other members.
The other girls also said that new members become a part of the group fastly.
Especially, I liked one statement from a girl named Laura. She said, if we wear our team shirts, we are all the same. It reminds me about our team foto. On the foto we are all wearing our team shirts and nobody would ask where we all come from. NO!
The first thought would be that we are all do boxing in Holzhausen and love this sport.

At last I spoke with a man, who works as a policeman. He has been training for a long time in our team. He told me that boxing is the common basis of the team. In the foreground is the sport and not the culture. You can’t prevent problems or dispute, but on a place where many people at, there will ever be conflicts.

For me, my sports club is a good example for integration by sports. We are a harmonious team and you can find real friends.

Now, it’s your turn.
Are you doing sports in a mixed teams?
Tell me your experience.

Yours Lea :)

Calisthenics and integration?
Hey! :)

Did you guys know the "Redbars"?
They're a group of men doing freestyle sports, for example in gymnastic poles. The sport is called "Calisthenics", it's Greek and stands for nice/good (=calos) and strength (=stenos).
Sounds quite cool right? :)

I talked to a schoolmate about this kind of sport and interviewed him on our subject, because he's a member of the "Redbars".
He told me that the men are between 13 and 42 years old and I think it's very cool that the age difference is that big!
Apperently, it's also possible to integrate groups of different ages by doing sports :)
He told me, that there are mainly members with a migration background, from Kazakhs, Afghan up to Russians and so on.
To my question whether sport can integrate he answered to me, that above all Calisthenics is able to do so, because you have to count on each other and the team spirit is elemantary.
Solidarity, mutual motivation and assistance are part of this sport and age, skin colour and origin doesn't matter at all.

They even trained together with refugees. They have met them in gym and presented their skills, with help of the Redbars members, the refugees tried to copy the exercises.
In spite of the fact, that they couldn't talk to each other, the training worked very well, he said.

But I asked myself if it's possible to integrate when everyone is doing something else.
Freestyle sport distinguishes itself by the fact, that you have no default, which exercises you have to do, so isn't it possible, that everyone starts to train for himself, because "own" exercises feel most effective?

So is there anybody thinking that this sport, or sport in general cannot integrate?
If it's the case, leave a comment with your opinion down below.
A negative opinion about this topic would be interesting to read, don't be shy ;)

yours Jana :)

Integration by martial arts
Hey guys!

Integration is an actual topic and Jana and I also discussed,if it is possible to integrate refugees by sports. We asked some people and found out that the SV-Eversburg has got a member, who escaped from his homeland Afghanistan. Therefore, we visited the combat unit Eversburg and asked them how it is to have a refugee in their team.

First, we spoke with the trainer Mark Dörner. He has been training his team for 2 years. Some members are Lebanese and Afghans, but the most of them were born in Germany. He told us about the refugee. His name is Taher Azizi and he is 18 years old. Taher lives in a communal residence near to Eversburg. He only could speak some words German and English. We had to use a translator, so that we could understand him. Taher was a professional fighter in Afghanistan, but the team in Eversburg is only for beginners. Taher told us that he helps Mark to train the guys. In retrun, the members and Mark teach him the German language. Besides, he found new friends in the team. The other members are between 9 and 13 years old, but Taher didn’nt care. They laughed and played together. The team loves Taher and can’t imagin to train without him. Sign language helped them to communicate, but we heard that now Taher can speak better German.

At last we asked the other members, if it is possible to integrate refugees by sports.
They said it’s possible and there aren’t any problems. It doesn’t matter where you come from. The only important aspect is that everybody loves the kind of sport and wants to train.
Taher is a part of the team. He helped them and because of him they are getting better.
Further, we spoke with two adults and they said Taher is a gain for the whole team. He knows how to deal with the children.

We were thankful to visit the team. They had shown us real cohesion and team spirit. After this experience we think it is possible to integrate refugees by sports.

Now, it’s your turn!
What do you think?
Can sports help to integrate refugees or do you know some clubs, who deal with this topic?
Tell us your story!

Yours Lea

Integration by sports/dancing
Hey guys!

To also get some information about the experiences people made with the topic "Integration by sports", Lea and I interviewed a member of a dance group. After talking to us she discussed our questions with her team and later accorded us the answers.
The girl named Rita from the dance group "Funky Gaga's" from SG Hankenberge Wellendorf told us, that they present a certain kind of Show Dance mixed with HipHop and that also stage performances are part of their programm.
We asked who the members of the group are and she answered, that it is an all female group consisting of eighteen girls from 15 to 25.

For our topic we needed to know wether there are any members with a migration background and we got to know, that five Russians belong to the group.
We requested Rita that she asks the other members if they think, that integration by sports is possible.
She told us that most of them think, that only team sports contain integration because people have to interact with each other. Practicing a sport without any other persons like jogging, do not contain such direct interaction.
The girls said that if people share a predilection, as for example for dancing, they often start to sympathize with each other and thereby integration automatically takes place insofar people with different nationalities or are included.
The girls explained, that they think that above everything, dancing integrates more than anything else, because the music is also not always in everybody's mother tongue. Therefore, the melody and the rhythm are important for the dancing but less for the origin of every single person.
Particuarly, the girls of their dance group get along with each other so well they said, because they also meet in their free time and meanwhile they feel like a family, where the origin does not matter.

So, what do you think about these girls' point of view? I think their arguments are very convincing and they are proofs of the fact, that dancing can help integrating people into a community. Even at the most discos, there is music for everyone, different styles of music on different dancefloors, so you can forget about where you come from because it does not even matter anymore!

Write down your opinion and thoughts about this topic in the comments down below! I look forward to read them as soon as possible.

Yours Jana

The Beginning
Hey guys,
My friend (Lea) and I (Jana) decided to create an internet blog about integration, because it's an important topic in our modern society.
We specialized about integration by sports to find out if it's possible to make people with different origins feel as a homogeneous whole.
For those who don't know the exact meaning of integration, we founded it out for you:
Integration is the process of melting people from different origins/ages/Skin colours ect. together, make them become part of a group and feel accepted. Above all we want to take a look on the integration of people with a migration background and even foreigners, because it's part of our actual school project.
Both of us think, that integration due sports is very effective, because team sport enables people to get a sense of belonging to the team, so without any integration team spirit isn't possible.
To verify (or refute) our thoughts we want to visit different sports teams with people from different races or even refugees and interview group leaders, trainers and possibly outside people.
So follow our entrys or leave a comment with your own opinion down below, we would like to know what you think about integration by sports or if you had experiences with this topic.
Thank you guys :)

Jana <3
